Last week I was the guest of honor at ABC Pilates Studio in Orange County and loved sharing biz tips with a wonderful group of pilates instructors.

One of the questions studio owner, Amy Cady, asked me was about my personal definition of success.

It was a simple question, but at the time it really resonated with me as I was literally that very day selling (almost) all of my beloved pilates equipment and making plans to close my studio.

For the first time in 12 years I wouldn’t own a studio and even though we had recently crossed over the million dollar sales mark (see screen shot below) it was no longer fitting in to my personal definition of success.

See when I signed my studio lease 7 long years ago I had no idea how my life would evolve and I’m simply not the same person with the same goals, hopes or dreams.

Which brings me back to the answer to the question I was asked last week – how do I define success? (Did you follow me on that one?)

Personally, a big part of being a “success” is determined by how I am able to spend my time and if I am able to do what I love and be compensated financially for it.

Owning a studio did not meet hardly any of that (which is why I chose to close instead of relocate).

For me to be living a successful life, I want to be able to look back from hopefully a very old age and say I was true to my personal goals and designed a life I loved living.

So, what is YOUR personal definition of success and are you close to living it?

Here are a few questions to help you answer.

Are you happy?

Are you spending your days doing what you love?

Are you compensated for doing what you love?

Do you have the free time to take care of yourself and be with your favorite people?

If you were to find out you only had a few days to live, would you have regrets?

You may know that it took a life and death experience for me to really get moving on my vision for The Pilates Biz and I’m more excited than ever to give this amazing community my all!

Thank you for reading, for being part of The Pilates Biz Community and for tirelessly serving your pilates clients like you do.

Wishing you all the best,

Gina
